I had some private soccer training sessions with a 15-year-old boy who came to Japan from Indonesia, and I also accompanied him to a training match.
He has a clear dream of becoming a professional soccer player in the future, and his strong commitment toward that goal was very impressive.
During the private lessons, we did not focus only on technical training, but also on how those skills can be applied in real matches.
Because the training was one-on-one, we were able to carefully work on positioning, decision-making timing, and how to use his vision on the field.
During the training match, I provided real-time advice from outside the pitch and helped him organize the intentions behind his plays.
His parents also shared some wonderful feedback, saying,
“He has started to explain why he chooses certain plays,” and
“He now reflects on his performance by himself after matches.”
In private soccer coaching, the goal is not only to improve technical skills but also to develop the ability to think and make decisions that will support a player’s future.
