I am Yamaguchi, a representative of Private Football.
UD Oliveirense U19 in Portugal has started accepting my student Tyler as a trainee.
He is now 18 years old and started private lessons focusing on skills in 2015. At the time he was 10 years old and I have been teaching him for over 6 years from basic to advanced level.
He is steadily getting closer to his dream of playing in Europe. It has been a great experience for him because the top team at UD Oliveirense is the team that everyone knows legendary player Kazuyoshi Miura plays for, and moreover, the dorm room is the same as the top players.
Whether or not he will be able to move up to the top team is up to the local coaches and management, so I am not in a position to say anything, but if he is able to work as a professional, I would be very happy as a coach.
I will continue to support him as I do now.
At that time, he was only 10 years old and his motivation and fighting spirit were amazing.
At the age of 15, he was already 6’4″; he quickly got taller than me. Even when we met every week, I asked him every time if he was getting taller. I remember I used to ask him every time I saw him.
