I would like to write about a private soccer lesson for tourists from Hawaii.
I usually write about students who regularly take a private soccer lesson. Since their soccer level and ambition are very high, I would like to introduce them to you.
They belong to a soccer club in Hawaii and have visited Japan several times. The hotel they stayed were not far from a place where the private soccer lessons were held. Therefore I provided transportation to and from the hotel.
This time we focused mainly on foot skills and shooting. We also worked on defense and how to hold players back with their arms and bodies in order to keep the ball in play.
They started learning to play soccer at a very young age, so they have a high level of basic dribbling, passing, trapping and so on. And they love to play soccer.
To improve the quality of play, I gave detailed advice on how to apply pressure and how to look around when dribbling.
Since they were willing to try new thing, I gave them difficult menus that junior high school students usually work on. As well as technical challenges such as how to change direction while keeping time with the DF in dribbling and how to slow down and change direction with speed.
Although I only had a chance to give lessons for two days due to their short stay in Tokyo, I would be happy if they continue what they learned here in Hawaii, even if only a little.
Memories of Hawaii
Actually I started my coaching career in Hawaii. It was more than 10 years ago. I was invited as an interpreter and technical coach for the Arsenal Soccer Schools camp held in Hawaii. So when I heard about Hawaii, I felt like I was back in the beginning.
The weather was pleasant and the practice environment was natural grass everywhere.
I wish I could go back there and coach kids again.
I look forward to seeing them again!
